Our client is a leading medical device company located out in Seattle.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Procurement Supervisor, the Buyer will ensure the availability of high-quality materials at the right time, quantity, and cost. Responsibilities include planning, procuring, and reducing costs for low to medium complexity materials, such as off-the-shelf and semi-custom components.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning:
- Utilize updated product forecasts and Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs to plan component purchases in support of the manufacturing schedule. Maintain accurate vendor part master data and lead time information in the company's ERP system.
Purchasing:
- Obtain quotes and negotiate with suppliers to secure fair pricing for high-quality components, equipment, and services. Handle purchase order entry in the ERP system, place orders, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery. Manage company Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) purchases.
Supply Chain Management:
- Assess supplier reliability and work on continuous improvement. Develop new supplier sources when needed and contribute to the supplier rating system.
Inventory Management:
- Provide input on inventory disposition during the Material Review Board (MRB) process. Obtain Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) and assist with preparing materials for return. Offer insights on excess and obsolete inventory.
Receiving:
- Monitor receiving activities and work with suppliers to ensure orderly receipt of goods and services. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure smooth product flow through quality control and appropriate handling of non-conforming materials.
Budgetary/Financial:
- Monitor and report on various financial metrics related to purchasing activities.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Experience as a Buyer Planner, particularly in instrumentation or medical device manufacturing (1-3 years), is preferred. Familiarity with ERP systems, Bill of Material structures, and component specifications is essential. Skills in obtaining quotes, negotiating, purchase order entry, inventory management, and Accounts Payable transactions are required. Experience in a quality system environment (ISO 13485, FDA cGMP/QSR) and exposure to supply chain concepts is a must.
Skills:
- Strong collaboration and team-building abilities. Experience with cost analysis tools and financial concepts. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in MS Office required. Experience with ERP-LX or similar systems is preferred. APICS certification is a plus.
Mathematical Skills:
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, and ratios. Ability to use MS Excel for calculations and data interpretation.
Compensation:
