Job Summary: The Category Buyer - Chemicals will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of chemical products and materials. This role involves working closely with suppliers, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality products, and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and a strategic mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for the chemicals category, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Source and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting market research and supplier assessments.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure the best value and quality.
- Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and performance standards.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes to inform procurement strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (R&D, production, quality, logistics) to ensure seamless integration of procurement activities.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier performance.
- Prepare and present reports on procurement performance, savings, and other key metrics.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, policies, and ethical standards in procurement processes.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within the procurement function.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, specifically within the chemicals category.
- Strong knowledge of the chemical industry, market dynamics, and supply chain management.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing and supplier management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
