Join a leading pharmaceutical company as an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer, where you'll be pivotal in enhancing the identification of industrial and manufacturing safety risks, refining process safety programs, and optimizing work processes at the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and all applicable laws.
- Interpret Safety Data Sheets for site materials and products.
- Conduct industrial safety risk assessments, lead risk management processes, and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Oversee production process improvements and CAPAs.
- Educate employees on risk identification and foster a strong safety culture.
- Perform Risk Assessments, Job Safety Analysis, and safe work planning.
- Conduct machine guarding assessments in line with company and OSHA standards.
- Assist in design reviews for new or modified facilities, processes, and equipment.
- Develop systems to monitor and improve EHS program performance.
- Respond to incidents and lead investigations, including Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Lead or participate in EHS project teams and manage multiple projects independently.
- Apply best practices and internal standards to maintain a safe workplace.
- Review and evaluate site production records, SOPs, and laboratory methods for EHS impacts.
- Build and sustain EHS culture initiatives and work with contractors to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Possess technical writing skills and experience in delivering EHSS training.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments using tools like RULA and NIOSH.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least 3 years of industrial safety experience in a highly regulated environment, with knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local EHS laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with ANSI, NFPA, and other consensus standards.
- Understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and FDA regulations.
- Knowledge of industrial safety principles, machine guarding standards, and ergonomics evaluation tools.
- Proficiency in Lean manufacturing concepts and SOP requirements.
- Strong skills in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Experience with EHS management systems and risk mitigation for high-risk activities (e.g., confined space entry, work at heights).
- Competence in training and presentation, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
