Position Overview
The Electrical and Controls Engineer II will provide electrical controls engineering support for plant operations and manage the implementation of capital projects. This role involves developing, scoping, coordinating, justifying, implementing, and managing a variety of industrial electrical and control system projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include creating scope documents, engineering calculations and designs, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, project justifications, and training and documentation for manufacturing facilities in North America. The engineer will also be a technical resource for operations and maintenance teams, troubleshooting and resolving issues with plant power and control systems, defining and implementing power and controls preventive maintenance (PM) programs, and providing control system maintenance guidance.
What You Bring to the Team
- Prepare and review technical electrical specifications for equipment and process projects.
- Assist the Corporate Electrical Group in reviewing and implementing corporate specifications and standards.
- Support facility manufacturing operations and execute electrical safety initiatives.
- Manage and oversee all aspects and phases of multiple project assignments concurrently, ensuring projects are driven to completion.
- Maintain effective communication with management and project stakeholders regarding project status, issues, and changes.
- Coordinate, review, oversee, and manage supplier and contractor activities for plant support or projects, including commissioning, startup, and training for plant personnel.
- Develop bid request documentation, supplier lists, bid evaluations, and make purchasing recommendations.
- Manage overall project budget, forecasts, schedule, scope, deliverables, execution, and reporting to ensure project benefits are realized.
- Coordinate, review, oversee, and manage external engineering resources and consultants as needed.
- Provide support for plant operations to determine root cause failure analysis and develop corrective action plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or a related engineering program with a minimum of 3 years of experience in control systems engineering in a continuous and/or discrete manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated capabilities in electrical and control system engineering, with the ability to solve basic project and process engineering problems.
- Solid knowledge of DCS, Allen-Bradley PLC, and HMI applications (including programming) and communications within enterprise and control networked systems.
- Proven project management skills.
- Knowledge of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, including arc flash energy and shock hazards.
- Ability to manage and support multiple projects simultaneously (1-6).
- Successful track record in managing projects ranging from $50k to $2MM.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external engineering resources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and seek out improvement opportunities.
