Equipment Maintenance Mechanic
Job Overview:
This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing machines and equipment in a manufacturing facility. The role involves scheduling and performing repairs, conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform or assist with the setup, change-over, installation, and modification of site equipment.
- Conduct inspections, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and repairs on all equipment and systems, documenting work in computerized maintenance management systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems used in the production process.
- Perform preventative maintenance for machines, equipment, and facility systems, ensuring compliance with operational standards and GMP guidelines.
- Maintain logs and records to support equipment operation and maintenance, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Provide technical expertise and support for projects, working with vendors and contractors, and contributing to the design and engineering of new processes and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA, FDA) and company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Complete all required training and maintain compliance with all assignments.
- Perform all job functions safely and efficiently in line with company policies, GMP practices, and SOPs.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1-year relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food processing industries.
- Experience with mechanical maintenance (pumps, gearboxes, belts) and electrical systems (480V distribution, motors, starters).
- Knowledge of electrical controls (Industrial PLC Control, 24v & 4-20 mA), hydraulics, and pneumatics is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office; experience with LMS and ERP systems is preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions, interact positively with coworkers, and communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
- Knowledge of cGMP and other regulatory standards.
- Ability to read and understand complex drawings and schematics, test components with a voltmeter, and troubleshoot system components such as timers, relays, switches, and control loops.
- Knowledge of mechanical stroke, timing, position, flow, temperature, pressure, and other process control elements.
Schedule:
- Work schedule includes Friday through Sunday and every other Thursday from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
