Position Overview: We are seeking a Food Safety Manager - Food & Beverage to oversee retail food safety programs, offering support and direction in areas such as food safety, sanitation, and pest management. This role is located in the greater Charlotte area and has up to 75% travel to our client's retail locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Management: Oversees third-party vendors for services like auditing, sanitation, pest control, and digital HACCP to ensure uniformity and compliance.
- Audit Program Monitoring: Evaluates the company's quarterly food safety and sanitation audit program, reporting findings and trends to corporate leadership on a periodic basis.
- Regulatory Liaison: Acts as the company representative during interactions with regulatory bodies and food safety organizations, maintaining relationships within our operational geography.
- Inspection Follow-up: Reviews and addresses all regulatory inspection reports related to food safety, sanitation, weights & measures, and food labeling.
- Team Management: Leads a team of specialists offering field support to educate operators on company food safety standards.
- Training Development: Partners with Training & Development to design and implement food safety and sanitation training programs. Conducts internal training sessions and delivers Food Manager Certification training and testing.
- Pest Control Management: Oversees and monitors the company's retail pest control program.
- Distribution Center Audits: Develops and maintains a robust audit program for Distribution Centers, ensuring compliance with established sanitation programs.
- Crisis Response: Responds to crises and emergency situations such as pest infestations, utility interruptions, or other imminent health hazards, supporting business continuity and regulatory compliance.
- Incident Investigation: Conducts investigations into food-related illness and injury claims.
- Recall Program Backup: Acts as a backup for Recall program management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in food safety in a retail setting (including auditing and inspections experience)
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, FDA regulations
- Proven experience in a managerial role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- PCQI certification preferred
