Job Overview:
Our client, a leading company within the manufacturing sector, seeks a strategic and results-oriented Head of Procurement to lead their procurement and supply chain operations. This role requires a seasoned procurement expert with deep industry knowledge and the ability to build and manage a high-performance team. The Head of Procurement will be responsible for designing and implementing procurement strategies that optimise costs, enhance supplier performance, and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials essential to the company's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Planning:
- Develop and execute the company's procurement strategy, aligning with business goals and operational needs.
- Identify and capitalise on cost-saving opportunities while ensuring quality and reliability across all purchasing categories.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable and responsive supply chain.
- Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance through KPIs, service-level agreements, and regular performance reviews.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and resources to enhance the team's capabilities in areas like negotiation, supplier management, and strategic sourcing.
Operational Efficiency and Cost Optimisation:
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes, policies, and systems to streamline operations and reduce waste.
- Monitor and analyse market trends to identify opportunities for cost reductions and risk mitigation.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, engineering, finance, and logistics teams to understand needs, improve alignment, and support overall operational goals.
- Collaborate with finance to develop procurement budgets, monitor spending, and implement cost-control strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, APICS) is a plus.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in procurement, with a strong background in the manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated success in a procurement leadership role, including experience in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost optimisation.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Strong analytic skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Fluency in German and English is required.
