Responsibilities:
- Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems.
- Select pipe types and sizes, and related materials based on job specifications, system operation knowledge, and building plans/working drawings.
- Plan installation sequences to avoid obstructions and minimize pipe cutting.
- Thread and bend pipes manually or using a pipe bending machine.
- Assemble and join pipes using threaded, chalked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.
- Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools.
- Test, inspect, and replace piping and pressure relief devices on production and facility equipment.
- Coordinate scheduled work with customers and service providers.
- Perform building walk-throughs to identify needed repairs and follow up with corrective actions.
- Check, test, and replace steam traps as necessary.
- Maintain the facility to ensure reliable and effective operation.
- Install valves and other plumbing fixtures in restrooms.
- Possess knowledge of underground sewer lines and drainage systems.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASSE certification for backflow testing and repair.
