Job Summary:
Supervise, direct, and coordinate all activities within the specific manufacturing department(s). Assist in executing production plans and deploying personnel to drive safety, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction. Key metrics include zero lost time accidents, on-time delivery, and achieving targeted margins.
Planning and Development:
- Coordinate manpower for operations.
- Collaborate with production planning daily to optimize efficiency related to manpower requirements.
- Optimize the workforce based on qualifications and shift requirements.
- Hold subordinates accountable and take necessary disciplinary actions based on production guidelines and company regulations.
- Ensure subordinates adhere to safety, process, productivity, quality, and code of conduct standards.
- Direct the workforce to maintain safety, quality, and efficient productivity.
- Recommend and implement ideas to improve the production environment.
- Coordinate operators to maintain the production plan, considering call-offs, vacations, and other deficiencies.
- Work with Production Process Managers to coordinate training for optimal flexibility based on individual skills.
- Coordinate and direct workforce for operator-based preventative maintenance in accordance with production planning.
- Direct workforce as needed to maintain a safe and clean work environment and align with business priorities.
- Serve as the lead contact person for all non-routine tasks, such as snow removal.
- Serve as the lead contact person on back shifts.
- Ensure maintenance work orders are issued, prioritized, and aligned with production planning and business priorities, both planned and unplanned.
- Conduct yearly performance evaluations with subordinates.
- Train all operational employees on job content, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
Operational Management:
- Ensure the safety of all subordinates and visitors to the manufacturing area.
- Foster a safety-first culture to achieve zero lost time accidents.
- Execute the operational budget as it pertains to personnel.
- Ensure operational adherence to all quality standards, including ISO 9001.
Job Specifications:
- College education preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience in the chemical industry, preferably in coating and finishing technologies, including web processing.
- 5 years of supervisory experience in the chemical industry preferred.
- Strong leadership, influencing, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve equipment, component, scheduling, quality, safety, and personnel issues and concerns.
- Proficiency in relevant computer systems in a manufacturing environment, as well as standard desktop computer software applications.
