A leading ship building company is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee all aspects of manufacturing, including planning, scheduling, resource management, and facility use, with a main purpose of ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards, while maintaining a safe workplace.
The Operations Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Lead projects to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality completion in accordance with specifications and regulations.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Review schedules, including critical path analysis and progress evaluations.
- Collaborate with planning and engineering teams on project strategies.
- Develop work order systems in coordination with production and planning.
- Analyze and control program costs, understanding the critical path analysis for each project.
- Adhere to marine manufacturing protocols, including specifications and regulations.
- Identify and resolve operational issues in vessel construction and repair.
- Address quality assurance issues, including inspections and tracking deficiencies.
- Train production teams on ISO System implementation.
- Manage project materials and understand material management systems.
- Supervise, discipline, and approve pay increases for operational employees.
- Organize production workforce and manage supervisor ratios.
- Assess project progress and communicate with managers to ensure schedules and budgets are met.
- Research and gather information for production-related facility improvements.
- Share and apply lessons learned across all operations.
The ideal Director of Quality candidate will have the following skillset:
- Minimum of 7 to 10 years of manufacturing experience in the marine industry or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience in operations management, project management, and/or program management preferred.
- Experience with new ship builds strongly preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and contract specifications.
- Effectively present operations information to top management.
- Provide clear, professional directions to subordinates and communicate effectively with peers.
- Demonstrate leadership skills, managing daily manufacturing issues.
- Make decisions based on qualitative and quantitative analysis and sound business practices.
- Be a team player, open to discussing alternatives
