ABOUT THE ROLE
The Plant Safety and Compliance Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring safe and compliant operations within the facility. QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of three years in an engineering role focused on Chemical Process Safety or Combustible Dust.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong project management abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of chemical unit operations and Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
- Experience with Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards (OSHA, NFPA, ASME, API) is highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, NFPA, PSM, and EPA Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulations.
- Support safety and compliance efforts on capital projects ranging from small ($<50K) to large (>$1M).
- Manage Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) revalidation, risk reduction strategies, and employee training.
- Provide regulatory interpretation and technical support for site projects.
- Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes, ensuring proper documentation and auditing of Pre-Start-Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Lead and execute key engineering projects to enhance process and combustible dust safety.
- Drive process safety culture improvements, reducing risk to personnel from process hazards.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of site operations and processes to enhance safety initiatives.
- Conduct and support process and dust safety activities, including audits, incident investigations, and training.
- Provide regulatory guidance on process safety matters, including pressure vessel repair, tank repair, machine guarding, and RAGAGEP interpretation.
- Mentor and coach employees on their responsibilities related to process safety.
