Position Summary: We are looking for a proactive Procurement Manager to oversee the equipment operations for extensive utility solar projects. This role is essential for ensuring that all machinery and tools are effectively acquired, managed, maintained, and optimized for peak performance. The Procurement Manager will lead efforts to minimize costs, enhance utilization, and support project success by strategically deploying equipment and tools across multiple sites. This position demands a strong leader with expertise in vendor management, equipment logistics, and maintenance planning.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Fleet Oversight: Manage the entire equipment fleet, ensuring all assets are strategically allocated, well-maintained, and fully operational across all project locations.
- Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with equipment suppliers, rental companies, and transport vendors to secure favorable rates and ensure timely deliveries.
- Procurement & Inventory Management: Supervise the procurement, tracking, and inventory management of all equipment and tools, ensuring standardized processes and optimal inventory levels.
- Maintenance & Safety: Implement and manage a proactive maintenance program to extend equipment life, reduce downtime, and ensure all equipment meets safety standards.
- Logistics Coordination: Coordinate the transportation and movement of equipment between sites, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing unnecessary downtime.
- Capital Expenditure Planning: Advise on capital expenditure decisions by recommending equipment investments that align with project goals and future company growth.
- Damage Prevention: Develop and implement a program to prevent equipment damage, reducing repair costs and protecting valuable assets.
- Cost Management: Work with project teams to forecast and track equipment-related costs, providing accurate reporting and improving project financial performance.
- Training Development: Lead the creation and implementation of training programs for equipment operators to ensure the safe and efficient use of machinery across all projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate and improve equipment processes, including utilization metrics, damage prevention, and vendor performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience Required: At least 3 years in an equipment management role, with significant experience in construction or industrial settings.
- Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of equipment tracking systems, maintenance protocols, and inventory management best practices.
- Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to manage teams and vendor relationships while driving efficiency and cost control.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Senior-Level Experience: 3-5 years in a senior equipment management role, ideally in the renewable energy or construction industries.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with equipment and tools used in large-scale solar projects, and an understanding of construction best practices.
