Summary:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will have a deep understanding of food manufacturing safety regulations and systems to maintain product quality (e.g., HACCP, SQF, BRC). They will know the importance of lean manufacturing systems in optimizing product quality and take leadership in continuous improvement. The role involves working with our leadership team to develop product test & hold strategy, environmental swab program, batch release protocols, and recall procedures for a new manufacturing plant.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor should have the following skill set:
- Minimum 4 years QA experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Minimum 1 year people management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Project management experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety programs (e.g., HACCP, SQF, BRC)
- Expertise in food manufacturing regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA)
- Experience with meat product manufacturing a plus
- B.S. in Food Science, Quality, Engineering, or other relevant scientific discipline required
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will:
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards established by the company and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, USDA) to maintain production of safe, high-quality products
- Implement and maintain a safe work environment for all employees
- Issue and release batch records; implement lot tracking and traceability systems
- Maintain tracking and trending of quality attributes to produce detailed comprehensive quality control analysis and make continuous improvement recommendations based on data
- Conduct cGMP training for all departments
- Partner with production leadership to develop equipment operator quality control tasks and inspections
- Establish and maintain SOPs for all QA-related activities
- Execute change control, vendor qualifications, and risk analysis
- Oversee long-term planning and budgeting for all QA and continuous improvement projects
- Maintain high employee engagement, communicate factory strategy, successes, and challenges, and cultivate culture within the maintenance department
- Help coordinate shift patterns and QA task scheduling to ensure plant production runs smoothly and efficiently
- Design and implement a "test and hold" program, collect composite product samples from every batch for micro testing, and manage recall protocols
- Establish HACCP plan and best-in-class environmental swab and testing protocols
