Responsibilities:
Preparation and Follow-Up of Purchase Orders:
- Generate purchase orders from MRP reports and shop supplies requisitions, detailing costs, quantities, packing/shipping specifications, and delivery requirements.
- Source suppliers based on criteria such as price, quality, delivery, and service.
- Verify purchase order acknowledgments, resolving any discrepancies.
- Address issues with supplier invoices and purchase order costs.
Expediting Purchase Orders:
- Enter new purchase orders and close out completed orders.
- Coordinate with vendors to expedite material orders and revise ship dates in the MRP system.
- Communicate relevant information to Production Control.
Establishing and Maintaining a Computerized Operating System:
- Perform daily data entry, updating the business system with information on material/supplies purchase orders.
- Enter purchase order parts data, including vendor details, lead time, buyer code, and relevant information.
Miscellaneous:
- Collaborate with the Accounting Department for month-end inventory/supplies purchased and other financial reporting data.
- Reconcile invoice discrepancies and manage charge backs and credits related to purchased goods.
- Prepare work orders and shipping documentation for materials or equipment sent out for repair or return.
- Track open purchase orders and identify/qualify new suppliers.
- Participate in the Material Review Board for rejected material.
- Collect and organize MSDS sheets for purchased materials.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure customer satisfaction by focusing on delivering high-quality units.
- Use Lean tools and concepts to identify and eliminate waste in all forms, contributing to value for customers.
- Participate in multifunctional group projects and new product development.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Key Performance Metrics:
- Purchase price variance report
- Stock outages report
- Vendor on-time delivery and quality reporting
- Cost savings and avoidance
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit/work on a computer for extended periods.
Minimum Requirements:
- BS Degree in Business Administration with three (3) to five (5) years' experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing facility.
- Experience in purchasing electronic components.
- APICS or NAPM certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of ERP Buyer/Planner systems.
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
- Exceptional communication abilities with both internal and external customers and suppliers.
