JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this role oversees the procurement process to ensure the timely and efficient acquisition of goods and services. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external suppliers. The Purchasing Category Specialist will be responsible for supplier sourcing, contract negotiations, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This role plays a key part in cost optimization, risk mitigation, and maintaining a streamlined supply chain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage multiple suppliers and procurement strategies within the FAB team.
Conduct market research and supplier evaluations to identify and qualify potential suppliers.
Develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable agreements.
Oversee supplier relationships and performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align sourcing decisions with business needs.
Monitor industry trends and market developments to identify opportunities for process enhancements.
Develop and implement cost control measures, change management protocols, and parts/service support strategies for procured goods and services.
Expedite the resolution of CSR and STR cases.
Perform cost analysis and evaluate the impact of supplier pricing adjustments.
Manage LN part setup, PDR creation, and approved cost changes.
Oversee LN part updates, provide PMO/PLM support, and act as a liaison with OE engineering.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
In-depth knowledge of the commercial truck/automotive market.
Experience in FAB, steel, and metals procurement.
Ability to conduct financial analysis, supplier selection, and approval processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Technical understanding of the goods or services being procured.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
