Job Description:
- Oversee, monitor, and optimise all customs procedures.
- Manage authorisations for customs-related activities.
- Lead and supervise technical staff in customs operations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for upcoming customs audits and audits related to Dual Use or export controls.
- Oversee tariff classifications and the accurate categorisation of goods.
- Ensure compliance with customs and export regulations.
- Coordinate and monitor legal matters regarding export controls, including goods lists, embargoes, personnel checks, and sanctions screening.
- Prepare and implement customs and export-specific documentation, such as process descriptions.
- Act as the central liaison for all internal departments and external service providers related to customs matters.
- Represent the company in dealings with regulatory authorities.
- Contribute to relevant projects.
Qualifications (Essential)
- 5+ years of experience in a Customs and Trade Compliance role, with a strong understanding of import and export regulations.
- Extensive knowledge of EU customs practices, especially in Germany and/or Poland, with the ability to identify import/export procedural issues that can positively impact the business.
- Expertise in customs valuation, transfer pricing, and INCOTERMS of delivery.
- Proficient in customs tariff classification, including direct experience with the Harmonised Tariff System.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Experience in direct communication with customs authorities (Hauptzollamt) in Germany.
- Fluent German language.
Preferred:
- Experience in official government audits in Germany.
- Background in the automotive industry.
- Experience with export control processes, particularly dual-use goods, sanctions, and CBAM reporting.
