COMPANY OVERVIEW:
As a leading foodservice distributor, this client is dedicated to providing best-in-class service to their customers while ensuring the safety and well-being of their associates. They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Transportation Manager to join their team. This role is essential in ensuring safe, accurate, and timely daily outbound shipments to customers and other distribution centers within the organization. The Sr. Manager, Transportation will focus on people, safety, service, and cost through meaningful engagements with Transportation leaders and associates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIE
Safety & Compliance:
- Achieve all safety targets in the Transportation department, ensuring a safety-first culture.
- Champion safety procedures, processes, and training to maintain a secure working environment.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with company, state, and federal DOT regulations.
Leadership & Development:
- Oversee and develop Transportation Managers through coaching, training, and problem resolution.
- Drive associate engagement and retention, creating a culture that embodies company values.
- Review staffing requirements, monitor interviewing and hiring, and deliver disciplinary action as needed.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure accurate and timely daily outbound shipments to customers and other distribution centers.
- Monitor production goals and maintain a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost reduction strategies.
Performance Analysis:
- Analyze daily performance measures, identify weaknesses, and recommend changes to ensure productivity objectives are achieved.
- Develop strategies to stop waste and improve processes for safer and more efficient work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of seven years of experience in transportation/delivery supervision required.
- Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods, and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and people development skills.
- Strong understanding of DOT, inventory control, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Union experience preferred but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Will spend time in an office working on a computer.
- Must spend a portion of working time in a truck with drivers, exposed to noise and vibration levels higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Expected base rate for this role is $115,000.
- Annual incentive plan bonus.
