Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including administration, production, processing, packaging, quality, maintenance, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, safety, and environmental management.
- Review and analyze reports on production, quality control, maintenance, and operations to ensure compliance with product specifications, customer requirements, and FDA/government regulations. Report any non-compliance immediately as per established protocols.
- Evaluate plant operations to maintain industry leadership and leverage new processes and technologies.
- Engage with customers to meet their operational, customer service, financial, and quality expectations.
- Develop, monitor, and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, productivity, and finances. Promote continuous improvement in KPI results and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Understand plant profit and loss (P&L) to drive performance; participate in the development of annual operating, capital, and expense budgets; provide accurate information to finance for end-of-month closing schedules.
- Manage or oversee all corporate, customer, and government audits to ensure compliance.
- Provide direction, mentoring, training, and development planning for managers. Identify and retain effective personnel through proper selection, training, and task assignment. Support career development and succession planning efforts.
- Maintain safe working conditions and ensure compliance with all company, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Adhere to DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in accordance with all company regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
- Possess working knowledge of union contracts and obligations, and collaborate effectively with bargaining unit employees. Coordinate contract negotiation preparation with DFA support staff and HR.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, food science technology, or a related field with an emphasis on manufacturing operations preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in dairy, food, and beverage manufacturing.
- Proven track record of improving results in quality, safety, service, and cost.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience, including providing feedback and conducting annual performance reviews for direct reports.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office Suite and ERP systems.
