JOB DESCRIPTION
Our client is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to manage and improve the quality of components and OEM finished goods provided by their suppliers. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to make an immediate impact through advanced quality management techniques, and skilled at building strong supplier relationships. A background in supplier quality engineering, especially in the commercial or residential appliance manufacturing sector, is highly desirable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans for supplier-related issues involving components and finished products.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to implement corrective actions.
- Oversee the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure all supplier submissions meet engineering standards.
- Ensure the smooth introduction of new supplier parts, products, and processes while addressing potential risks.
- Serve as the primary contact for end-of-line, receiving inspection, and field issues, coordinating failure analysis and corrective actions with suppliers.
- Provide regular updates on supplier quality concerns and ongoing improvement efforts.
- Establish and monitor supplier performance metrics for quality and delivery.
- Conduct on-site process and quality assessments to verify supplier capabilities align with expectations.
- Work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing supplier component reliability and field performance.
REQUIREMENTS
- A technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with continuous improvement and quality management tools such as 8D, PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, PPAP, and sampling plans.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and defect-free methodologies.
- Strong understanding of probability and statistical methods for quality assurance.
- ASQ certifications (Certified Quality Engineer or Auditor) are a plus.
- Solid understanding of ISO / TS quality system standards.
- Familiarity with commercial or residential appliance manufacturing is preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
