Our client, a fast growing scale up in the consumer electronics industry, is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Global Director of Distribution to lead their worldwide distribution strategy from their Amsterdam office. This leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and optimise the distribution network, ensuring efficient and seamless operations across international markets.
Position Overview: As the Global Director of Distribution, you will be responsible for spearheading the strategic direction and execution of the client's global distribution operations. Your leadership and expertise will drive operational excellence, enhance customer satisfaction, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the organisation on a global scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global distribution strategy that aligns with the company's overall objectives, market demands, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of regional distribution managers and professionals across different international locations.
- Establish performance goals, KPIs, and metrics for the distribution team, ensuring optimal operational efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service to align distribution activities with broader business strategies.
- Evaluate and select third-party logistics partners and distribution centers to optimise inventory management, order fulfillment, and delivery speed.
- Develop and manage the distribution budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring responsible resource allocation.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for optimisation and driving initiatives that enhance distribution processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (8+ years) in distribution and logistics management on a global scale.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import/export compliance.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing diverse teams.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to drive operational improvements.
- Proficiency in utilising distribution management software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships.
- Multilingual capabilities are a plus, considering the global nature of the role.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
