Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Project Engineer to join our engineering team in the chemical manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, designing, and optimizing process systems and projects, ensuring smooth execution and continuous improvement of our production processes. This role involves cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and safety teams to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management and Execution:
- Lead and manage process engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for new processes, process improvements, and modifications to existing systems.
- Coordinate the efforts of internal teams and external contractors to implement process upgrades, equipment installations, and other process-related projects.
- Monitor and report project progress, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to maintain timelines and quality.
Process Design and Optimization:
- Conduct process simulations, design reviews, and feasibility studies to ensure process designs meet production goals and quality standards.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and process data sheets to support design, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Analyze and optimize existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact while meeting cost and quality targets.
- Conduct trials and performance evaluations to ensure new processes or equipment meet desired specifications and safety requirements.
Technical Support:
- Provide ongoing technical support to production and operations teams by troubleshooting process issues, recommending improvements, and resolving operational challenges.
- Serve as the point of contact for process-related inquiries and provide expertise in scaling up or modifying processes to enhance plant performance.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure all process designs and modifications comply with local and federal safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the creation of safety protocols, risk assessments, and hazard analyses for new and existing processes.
- Assist in the implementation of sustainability initiatives, striving for reductions in energy consumption and waste generation.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of new projects into existing operations.
- Communicate project status, technical issues, and risks to senior management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering,
- Experience:
- At least 3-8 years of experience in process engineering, project management, or a related field within the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Strong experience in process design, process control, and optimization techniques.
- Proven ability to lead projects and coordinate multiple teams effectively.
- Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in process design tools (e.g., PFDs, P&IDs, process data sheets).
- Knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with MS Office and engineering software tools.
