Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team at an industrial manufacturing leader. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality while working closely with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, quality control, and product design. This position requires a strong background in quality engineering, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of industry standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance & Control: Lead and manage quality assurance activities to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards. Oversee product inspections, audits, and testing processes.
- Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving: Conduct thorough investigations and root cause analysis for product defects, process variations, and customer complaints. Develop corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address issues and ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and SPC (Statistical Process Control). Identify areas for process optimization and cost reduction without compromising product quality.
- Supplier Quality Management: Work closely with suppliers to ensure that raw materials and components meet quality specifications. Conduct supplier audits and assessments, and assist in developing supplier quality improvement programs.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and quality standards, including ISO 9001, AS9100, or other relevant certifications. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all quality control activities, including inspection reports, audit results, and corrective actions.
- Training & Mentorship: Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and production staff. Lead training initiatives to ensure the team is well-versed in quality standards, inspection techniques, and best practices.
- Reporting & Data Analysis: Analyze quality performance data and prepare detailed reports for upper management, identifying trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, engineering, and other teams to integrate quality control throughout the product lifecycle from design to production.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality engineering within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems (QMS), industry standards, and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100).
- Experience with statistical analysis tools and methodologies, such as SPC, FMEA, MSA, and DOE.
- Proven track record in leading root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficient in using quality tools such as 8D, Pareto analysis, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Expertise in measurement systems, including CMM, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across departments.
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and quality management software.
- Certifications:
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification is highly preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus.
